We have group classes in Pilates mat and equipment, GYROKENISIS, Yoga and a combination of spinning and Pilates. Private sessions use whatever combination of equipment and movement styles would benefit you the most as well as Myofascial Release bodywork. The AIS method of myofascial release technique uses active movement of the muscles on the opposite side of the muscles being stretched. Using a 2 second stretch has proven to be the key in avoiding contraction of the muscles and connective tissue that is being stretched. Lynette Ward, PT, also is available for soft tissue work including Cranial Sacral, John F. Barnes method of myofascial release and AIS. GYROKINESIS (R) Classes Every Friday at 9:45. This method of exercise incorporates many key principles from yoga, dance, gymnastics and tai-chi. Postures are not held for long periods of time. Instead, postures are smoothly and harmoniously connected through the use of breath, making exercises appear and feel more like a dance than traditional yoga. Seated on stools or chairs, the class mobilizes the spine through a series of arching, curling, bending, twisting and spiraling movements. These same movement patterns are expanded to release the hip, knee, hamstrings, and quadriceps and so on, in all possible directions: front, back, twisting and turning. The corresponding breathing patterns in every movement stimulate the nervous system, open up the energy pathways and oxygenate the blood.
