Pilates is defined as “a complete total-body-conditioning workout emphasizing the natural curves of the spine,” with founder Joseph Pilate expressing that “to achieve the highest accomplishments within the scope of our capabilities in all walks of life, we must constantly strive to acquire strong, healthy bodies and develop our minds to the limit of our ability.”

“You can take your gym with you wherever you go because all you need is you and a bit of motivation. Sure, you can add bands and balls, but you don’t need to,” says Barbara Bruni, owner of Pilates Core Training.
Whether you decide to work out on a machine or on your own, Pilates offers variety to keep you interested and motivated.

Bruni offers the following ideas to keep your routine fresh and effective:

  • Work out outside to enjoy the scenery and fresh air on a nice day.
  • In-studio workouts offer equipment and props so you don’t get bored with routines.
  • Sign up for and attend a class to get the “we’re all in this together” feeling.
  • Streamline your workout to maximize time.
  • Pool money with a group of friends to have an instructor come to the comfort of your home or office.
